First of all, we would like to CONGRATULATE Herman on participating and winning our Jr. Ambassador contest. Herman is no stranger to Murphy's Treats as his hooman Shawn Leslie has been a long time customer and advocate of ours
Shawn Leslie herself has been active in animal rescue for years and has taught us a lot about breeds you don't see everyday like Bloodhounds and Bulldogs.
We asked Shawn to tell us a bit on Hermans Background:
"Through my work with Ontario Bloodhound Rescue, I was contacted by a family member of someone who had adopted a bloodhound from us. She knew I was involved in dog rescue and she knew someone looking to re-home their bulldog. She thought I might be able to help. I told her I only do bloodhound rescue normally, because that's my "specialty breed" that I know enough about to competently place them, but that in this case I would help, as I worried about a bulldog ending up in the wrong hands, plus I knew enough about the breed since my sister has had them for about 25 years. Herman's family was giving him up, due to not having enough time to care for his needs, the expensive of his care, in addition to now having 2 children. My intent was to foster Herman, evaluate him, then place him. Since I had 2 dogs of my own, I never imagined keeping him. Then, as you know, sadly and expectantly, I lost Clover and Hoover so close together and Herman was still with me, now my only dog. Although I never imagined being owned by a bulldog, Herman easily won my heart over and the rest is history." Shawn Leslie
